Our mission
Providing education and hope to vulnerable children in Nairobi. At EKO (Educating Kenyan Orphans), we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and build a brighter future.
Why it matters:
In many informal settlements in Nairobi, children face poverty, instability, and limited access to education. Without early schooling, opportunities narrow quickly. Education is not just learning — it is protection, dignity, and hope for a different future.
Founded in 2006, EKO (Educating Kenyan Orphans) school currently supports 120 students, taught by dedicated teachers. Our facilities include 8 classrooms, with access to a library, a dining area and a spacious outdoor compound for children to play. We also provide daily meals to ensure children can learn and grow in a healthy environment
- We are focusing on early years, from nursery up to aged 12 to help provide a good educational foundation.
- We employ 9 teachers and a chef.
- We have bought school uniforms and textbooks.
Our goals for 2026
- Upgrading our facilities to meet registration standards.
- Sustaining fair wages for both teaching and support staff.
- Providing essential learning resources from Beginners to Grade 6.
- Continuing daily meal provision for our pupils.
- Investing in teacher development through workshops and training.
- Maintaining consistent funding for daily meals and essential requirements.
How you could help…
- Any donation, no matter how big or small will go directly towards helping the children in our school.
- £20 is enough to supply full uniform for a child – shirt, shorts, trousers / dress, sweater
- Or you could help fund one of our teachers.
- DO YOU HAVE A SKILL THAT OUR CHILDREN WOULD LOVE TO LEARN? MAYBE YOU SING OR PLAY FOOTBALL? WE LOVE WELCOMING VOLUNTEERS TO OUR SCHOOL.
